Graphic Designer
A little bit about you:
I am a Toronto-based Graphic Designer. I was born and grew up in Japan. After graduating from university (forest ecology major) and working there for a while, I came to Canada to change my career. I graduated from a college Graphic Design program last year.
A little bit about your role at PWB:
I will be responsible for designing the PWB print magazine and annual report and creating other graphic design-related documents.
What are you most passionate about?
I've been passionate about travel for a long time. I've been to twenty countries. Travel inspires me a lot. Also, I'm into baking. I bake something twice or more a week.
Why is decolonizing photography/storytelling important to you?
Because I think the thoughts, feelings, and life of the people (or animals or nature) who are photographed should be conveyed as they are without the facts/truth distorted. They should be respected.
What are your personal goals? How do they align with your work at PWB?
One of my goals is to work as a graphic designer until I turn 75 years old. Some people or many people want to retire early, but I am the opposite. I believe every design experience improves my skills, so I just want to focus on creating a great magazine at PWB.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a:
Flight attendant.
