India Expedition Deposit

This non-refundable deposit will be applied against the total cost. The deposit will only be refunded in the case that an applicant is not accepted by PWB.

Join us in Rajasthan, India for an unforgettable journey to support Sambhali Trust, an organization that promotes gender equity in the midst of intersecting issues such as climate change. They have recently launched the very first cafe in all of Rajasthan that is run by members of the LGBTQIA+ community. This is a safe space that also hosts a shelter, an empowerment centre where sewing, Hindi, math, English and other skills that can benefit them financially so as to gain independence in a society that is known to be very conservative and restrictive.

Dates: Oct 16-28, 2025

Last day to apply: August 16, 2025 or when full.

Day 1:

Namaskaram! Fly into Jodhpur, India on October 16 where you will be greeted by our staff. Get settled in your hotel and relax.

Day 2:

Start your journey learning about the Indian culture through storytelling and food. We will make our way around the city to set the context for this powerful story.

Day 3-11:

We start our journey in Jodhpur, then move to the small desert village of Setrawa (2 nights) and end our journey in Jaisalmer (2 nights), visiting programs that Sambhali has in place at each location.

Day 13:

It’s time to say danyewad and set off on your next adventure. Depart from Jaisalmer on October 28.

General notes:

  • Participants must be comfortable travellers with experience in photography or video-making and must be committed to sharing a completed set of images and/or video at the end of the Expedition with PWB and the community partner.

  • Our Ethical Storytelling Certification is a pre-requisite for Expeditions and is included in the cost of logistics and administration for those who are not yet certified.

  • Participants must be PWB Professional Members.

  • We will always prioritize the safety of our guests. All excursions are weather-permitting and are subject to change.

  • Participants must dress conservatively. Local dress is encouraged.
