Curator
A little bit about you:
I am a photographer based in NYC and a student at Parsons School of design studying photography. My work consists mainly of looking at nature through a queer lens, or queer ecology.
A little bit about your role at PWB:
I am the curator so I am in charge of selecting images from the PWB community for things such as the online mag, print mag, socials, etc.
What's the best part of your job?/ What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
I think I am most looking forward to seeing and sorting through the incredible images and stories shared by the PWB community.
What are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about photography and art in general, nature, storytelling, and sharing the stories of queer people.
The best piece of advice I've ever been given is: That art is play but with all the knowledge one has gained through life. To not be kept in a box by traditional “rules” surrounding art.
What inspires you?
I gain most of my inspiration from nature but also looking at other people’s work and the stories they are sharing also gives me lots of inspiration.
When you are not working, what do you enjoy doing?
I love spending time in nature with my partner and friends. I also love music, looking at art, and reading.
3 things on your to-do list:
I would love to go skydiving one day. To hike the pacific crest trail and to see the northern lights.
Favourite Books / Podcasts (3):
The Southern Reach Trilogy by Jeff Vandermeer, Whereas by Layli Long Soldier, and too many photo books to count!
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a:
A marine biologist.
What makes you more than a photographer?
My photography tells the story of queer relation to nature which is something that is often completely overlooked. Nature is queer and I aim to document that.
