REVOLUTIONARY STORYTELLER GRANT TERMS & CONDITIONS

Project criteria:

This grant will help shine a light on photography projects that support grassroots, frontlines movements and initiatives that are doing big things to protect Mother Earth. This can include anything from land and water protection, to decolonized conservation efforts, to queer ecology, to climate change, and to various intersectional lenses into those topics or combination of topics.

Who can apply:

Anyone from anywhere in the world may apply. Storytellers from the communities they are working in, as well as storytellers who demonstrate longstanding relationships with the communities they are working with are a bonus. Applicants must be PWB members at the time of applying.

Last day to apply: March 5, 2025 at 11:59 ET.

What it is:

  • Three recipients from anywhere in the world will receive $5000 USD from Photographers Without Borders (PWB) to support the creation of an impact-driven photography project. Each recipient will also receive a 1-year subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. PWB will also include each recipients’ story in our annual print magazine as well as our online magazine, though recipients are encouraged to publish in other locations as well. Each recipient retains all copyright of their images and grants Photographers Without Borders a royalty-free, unlimited license for use to promote this project and the recipient.

    Deliverables include:

  • a set of 30+ edited high-resolution JPEG images complete with detailed captions as per the specifications provided by PWB. RAW images must be included for verification.

  • a written story of 500 to 2500 words to accompany the story to PWB by September 30, 2025.

  • Quality behind-the-scenes content (5-10 short-form pieces including, but not limited to, reels, timelapses, the making of an image, fun behind-the-scenes moments, etc) to drive audiences to the photographic work.

  • a small, community exhibition as a part of their grant budget (recommended budget allocation: no more than 5-10%).

  • receipts matching the proposed budget.

  • participation in at least two virtual PWB events between 2025-end 2026.
